iPhone 5C is 100$ cheaper than iPhone 5

It was expected, the iPhone 5C cheaper will be cheaper so it now been some how confirmed. It is some $100 cheaper iPhone 5 and the same iPhone inside a plastic chassis.
“This year we are going to replace iPhone 5” this was the earlier statement by Tim Cook . And they did exactly that. It was expected about the discount on old iPhone 5 but they replaced the same with  iPhone 5C and priced it by $100 less.

Specifications of iPhone 5C are as mentioned below:
4” Retina displayA6 CPU (the same as in iPhone 5)8mpx camera with BSI, hybrid IR filter and 5 element lensFacetime HD front camera with 1.9 micron pixels and BSILTE connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0It will cost  $99 for 16GB version and $199 for 32GB.
The problem is what iPhone 5C may be a cheaper iPhone, but it seems not so cheap. Unless Apple is giving some discounts to U.S carriers, not reflected in $99 contract price, subsidized iPhone 5C is at least $499 device. Which leaves 5C in the high end smartphone category, and is way too expensive if Apple wants to reinvigorate its growth, especially outside U.S.

Let’s see what tomorrow’s event in China brings us. How high iPhone 5C is priced over there,
and what carrier subsidies Apple was able to extract this time. For now, things doesn’t look
too good.
It could be guessed that we have to wait until iPhone 6, when 5C price drops another $100, for Apple to finally have a device that can compete in higher volume upper mid range of the market.
